Ancient Asian Legends was born from a simple frustration: the greatest mythological epics in human history were sitting untranslated, mistranslated, or buried in academic editions that nobody actually reads.
Journey to the West. The Dragon King. The Monkey King's rebellion against heaven. These are not obscure stories — they have shaped the imagination of billions of people across Asia for centuries. They inspired Dragon Ball, Black Myth: Wukong, and countless other works that Western audiences already love without realizing where they came from.
We created this podcast to fix that. Ancient Asian Legends retells the defining epics of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and South Asian mythology in English — with fidelity to the source material and a storyteller's instinct for what makes these works timeless.
The show is hosted by bilingual storytellers who grew up with these tales. Not as academics. As people who heard these stories at dinner tables, in living rooms, and in the quiet spaces between two cultures.
Start with Episode 1. The journey begins there.
